Scientific Name: Lithops
Common Name: Living Stone or Stone Plant
- Looks just like pebbles
- Low-maintenance succulent
- Incredibly drought tolerant
- Perfect for sunny spots
Lithops, better known as Living Stones, are masters of mimicry. Looking more like smooth pebbles than living plants, these remarkable succulents have perfected the art of hiding in plain sight to avoid hungry wildlife in their native habitat.
Their unusual shapes, subtle colours and stone-like textures make them a fascinating addition to any indoor plant collection. Small enough for sunny windowsills, desks or shelves, they're perfect for creating miniature landscapes that are guaranteed to spark conversation.
These little survivors are wonderfully low-maintenance and thrive on neglect. Give them plenty of bright light and resist the urge to overwater. Lithops only need watering during their active growing seasons in spring and autumn, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Never water while they're dormant or splitting, as too much moisture can cause rot.
With a little patience, your tiny "stones" may even reward you with cheerful daisy-like blooms, proving there's far more to them than meets the eye. Whether you're adding something unusual to your collection or searching for a thoughtful gift, Living Stones bring plenty of character in the smallest package.
Please note that our Lithops come in a variety of colours. If you want a specific colour, please leave an order note or send us an email once your order is confirmed with your order number.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these care tips to keep your Lithops happy & Healthy.
Water: Very sparingly. Water only during their active growing season (spring and autumn), and only when the soil is completely dry. Avoid watering during dormancy or when they’re splitting – overwatering is the quickest way to lose them!
Light: Try to provide at least 4-5 hours of direct sunlight; however, if possible, avoid midday sun that can lead to scorching.
Humidity: No adjustments required; best suited for the driest spot in your space.
